Sometimes, your needs, goals, or circumstances change, and that can mean your NDIS supports need to change too.
Maybe you’re not feeling fully heard by your current Provider, or you’ve realised their approach just isn’t the right fit anymore. You might be moving to a new area, need more flexible support, or simply want to explore different options.
Whatever your reason, changing Providers is your right under the NDIS. The process can feel daunting at first, but it doesn’t have to be. With a clear plan and the right information, you can make the switch smoothly and find a team who truly understands your goals and how you want to live your life.
Step 1: Why You May Be Looking for a New Provider
There are many reasons why you might want to change Providers, and that’s completely okay!
You might be:
Wanting better communication or responsiveness.
Looking for more flexible, local, or community-based services.
Seeking a Provider who better understands your goals and lifestyle.
Moving to a new area and needing a team nearby.
Feeling ready to explore different supports or a new approach.
Whatever your reason, your NDIS Plan belongs to you. You have the right to choose who provides your services and to make a change if your current Provider isn’t the right fit.
Step 2: Review Your Current Service Agreement
Before making any changes, it’s important to review the Service Agreement you currently have with your Provider. This document outlines the supports they provide, how much notice is required to end the agreement, and any cancellation terms.
If you’re unsure how to interpret your agreement, you can contact the NDIS or ask a trusted family member, advocate, or Support Coordinator for guidance.
At Enable WA, we encourage people to understand their rights and make informed decisions, even if they don’t choose us. We also have access to a number of resources we can share with you to lodge formal enquiries or complaints.

Step 3: Find a Provider Who Aligns With Your Goals
Every Provider operates differently, so take the time to find one that aligns with your goals, values, and lifestyle.
When researching potential Providers, consider:
Do they have experience supporting people with similar needs to yours?
Are they transparent about their pricing and processes?
Do they offer flexibility in how supports are delivered (e.g. remote, in-home, or community-based)?
How do they communicate and make decisions with participants?
Enable WA, for example, focuses on partnerships — working alongside people, not above them. We support West Australians to live independently, confidently, and with real choice and control over their NDIS journey.
Step 4: Notify Your Current Provider
Once you’ve found a new Provider and confirmed your start date, it’s time to let your current Provider know you’re moving on.
Provide the notice required in your Service Agreement and ask for written confirmation of your end date. You can also request a summary of services or progress report, which can help your new Provider continue your supports smoothly.
Step 5: Update Your New Provider and Your Plan
After your previous Service Agreement ends, you can finalise a new one with your chosen Provider. They’ll guide you through setting up services, arranging funding allocations, and ensuring there’s no overlap between agreements.
If you have a Support Coordinator or Plan Manager, let them know about the change so they can update your records and help make the transition seamless.
Step 6: Settle In and Give Feedback
Once you’ve switched Providers, take time to get comfortable. A good Provider will check in with you regularly, listen to feedback, and make adjustments to suit your evolving needs.
At Enable WA, we see this as a partnership - built on trust, respect, and shared goals. We encourage open communication from the start so that your supports truly reflect what matters most to you.
